Emre ÞEN Turkish outstanding young pianist
Introduced by the Italian press as the "devilish angel" of the piano, Emre Þen was the winner of the first prize in the 5th International Competition of Rome, whcich led him to do his first concert tour throughout Europe.
Emre Þen was born in Ankara in 1973 and began his piano lessons at the age of 13 in Turkey with Prof. Nimet Karatekin. Receiving the first prize at the Mozart Interpretation Competition in Istanbul at the age of 17, he had the chance to study with the famous Polish pedagogue Andrzej Jasinsky at the Salzburg Mozarteum Summer School. Following his education at Bilkent University in Ankara, he went to Italy in 1995 to study with Marcella Crudeli. As a result of these studies he obtained the highest level of École Normale de Musique de Paris - Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste, receiving the first prize. Two years later, he was awarded the Albert Roussel first prize among the first prize winners of Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste - École Normale de Musique.
Continuing his professional studies in the United States of America with Oxana Yablonskaya, Emre Þen participated in concert activities and received prizes from international competitions. These international competitions where Emre Þen was awarded are as follows:
1990 - First prize, Istanbul Mozart Interpretation Competition
1995 - Second prize, Israel Tel Hai International Piano Competition
1995 - First prize, and special prize, Rome International Piano Competition
1996 - second prize, Francis Poulenc International Piano Competition in France
1997 - First prize, École Normale de Musique de Paris - Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste
1999 - First prize, École Normale de Musique de Paris - Albert Roussel, Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste, among other first prize winners
2000 - Second prize, International Chopin Competition - Turkey
2001 - First prize, Istanbul Soloist of the BBC Philharmonic Competition
In addition to various concerts given in Turkey, he received critiques highly praising his performance at his concerts in Russia, Germany, Israel, Japan, Australia, France and Italy. He was honoured with receiving the prestigious art. Prize from Eskiþehir Anadolu University, where he also had his bachelor of music degree.
In 2001, The BBC Philharmonic organized a competition within the framework of ISBANK Art. Activities. Among the candidates consisting of cellists, violinists and pianists Emre Þen was chosen to be the soloist to play Tschaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1. This concert was also broadcasted in Britain at the BBC 3 radio channel.
Emre Þen is also the owner and director of the Chopin Music House in Ankara, which he established in the year 2000 where he holds advanced piano classes and workshops.
