FACULTY OF CHEMISTRY
(ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROGRAM)

A special, four-year program of engineering studies entitled "Environmental Engineering and Management" is conducted in English. Those completing the program receive the diploma of Bachelor of Environmental Protection and Management
Tuition is 4,000 USD/yr.

CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The Centre has organised a year-long study program of course in environmental protection. The program is open to all students who have completed at least four years of higher education studies.
Tuition is 2,400 USD/yr.

FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The Faculty is the organizor of program entitled "A European Program of Magisterial Studies in Eco-Mechanical Engineering". The program is sponsored by a European Union TEMPUS project for 1994-1997
Tuition for the one-year program is 5,000 USD/yr.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS
The Faculty is organizing a post-graduate program of studies entitled "French-Polish Study Program in Banking and Finance-Mastere Specialise Banque et Finance". Fifty percent of the course are conducted in French.
Cost of the program is 3,800 PLN

All the above courses and programs commence with the beginning of each academic year, i.e approximately Oct. 1.

The Academy of Mining and Metallurgy opened, commencing in 1997/98, an International School of Engineering. The School offers regular daytime study programs, including the possibility of taking the same in English, in the following areas of specialisation:
Materials Science and Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Automatics and Robotics
Materials Engineering
Recruitment of candidates takes place in accordance with the existing practices and policies of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy. Students are judged based on entrance exam results and/or an interview.
In addition, students seeking acceptance in the International School of Engineering must also:
submit their secondary school diploma
submit a completed entrance application form
submit a certificate of good health
submit 4 photos
pay the entry registration fee in an amount fixed by the Ministry of Education
pay tuition in an amount equivalent to 800 USD (for Polish Students)
The deadline for submitting entry applications for initial
recruitment is July 15, 1998. If places still remain available following the first recruitment, applicants may submit applications until Sept. 15,1998.

This option allows students to select their own program module from available courses. Cost of participation in this program is 4,600 USD/yr. and a registration fee of 200 USD. Social costs are included.

Magisterial remedial Programs
Remedial programs are individually established and include a minimum of three semesters and one semester devoted to writing one's Magister thesis. Cost of participation depends on the program design, but a minimum cost of 4,000 USD plus a 200 USD registration fee is established. The fee does not include social benefits.

FACULTY OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING ANG TECHNOLOGY
Remedial Magister programs of 4 semesters are conducted in English in the following specialisations:
Chemical Engineering and Technology:
Inorganic chemical engineering and technology; environmental protection; chemistry of permanent bodies.

Cost of the above program are 7,000 USD/yr.

FACULTY OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
Selected courses in English at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering can be offered only in the following subjects: man and the environment; strategies of environmental protection; unconventional and renewable sources of energy; basics of computer science applications in environmental engineering; techniques of heat energy (first and second basic courses and higher); construction mechanics; mechanics; durability of materials.
The cost of registration for the above courses is 3,000 USD/yr.

FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Programs in electronics in English may be individually designed. The cost of such programs is 3,000 USD/yr.

FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Programs may be offered in mechanics and the fundamentals o machine design; materials engineering; automatic control and robotics; and transportation. The studies may be planned and implemented on an individual basis. Costs of the same are 1,300 USD.

INSTITUTE MECHANICS AND FUNDAMENTALS OF MACHINE DESIGN
Includes studies in mechanics, computer mechanics, machine design and engineering. Studies commence on Oct. 01. 1998.

The Lublin Technical University does not offer full-time programs in foreign languages, but it does allow for the possibility of designing individual study programs, and some selected courses are offered in English. In addition, qualified foreigners with a proficiency in Polish may take all programs offered in Polish. All foreigners must pay the following tuition in foreign currency:
For professional studies and magisterial studies (including remedial magisterial programs): 4,200 USD per year.
For individual programs of doctoral studies: 5,500 USD per year.
The above tuition payments include the costs of study, medical insurance, and public transportation discounts on the same basis as Polish students.

The IFE began its program in the 1993/94 academic year. It offers a 4-year program of engineering studies which concludes with receipt of a Bachelor of Engineering diploma. Its lectures and all classes are conducted exclusively in English. At the present time the IFE has an enrollment of about 230 students, comprised of both foreigners and Poles. It offers its programs in the following areas of specialisations:
-Business and Technology
-Electromechanical Engineering
-Telecommunications Computer Science

All the programs at IFE include fundamental concepts and principles, general and specialised technical subjects, and courses in management and organization. In addition, each program contains both core course and electives, which allows students to individualise their study programs. The professional teaching staff includes both professors from the Technical University of Lódz and visiting professors from Technical University around the world.
The IFE possesses its own English language library, computer laboratory equiped with English programming, and multimedia language laboratory. In addition, all the laboratories of the Technical University of Lódz are available to IFE students on the same basis as other students of the Technical University. Proficiency in English is prerequisite for admission to the IFE. Proficiency in Polish is not required, although foreigners matriculating at IFE are offered an optional course in Polish in order to facilitate their stay in Poland. All foreign students are guaranteed dormitory housing and medical coverage.
In addition to its programs in English, commencing with the 1997/98 academic year the IFE now offers a full-time program in French. The program, entitled Gestion et Techologie, takes place with IFE's Management and Marketing section. After 3 and one half years students in the program receive an engineering degree, and upon completion of five years a Magister diploma in engineering.
The IFE's programs commence in the beginning of October each year. Tuition for foreigners is 4,000 USD/yr. Applications for admittance are accept between May and September.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Szczecin Technical University conducts external studies two-year remedial magisterial programs in English in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning. Applications are accepted until Sept. 12 of each year, and studies commence on Oct. 1 Tuition is 5,000 USD/yr.

In addition, the International Post-Graduate Centre for Urban and Regional Planning of Szcczecin Technical University offers continuing education studies for professional in the field.
Over the past four years Poland has underground a transition form a centrally-planned to a decentralized market economy. This has sparked changes in urban and regional planning, prompted by improved management strategies and strengthened local self-government. The post-graduate program of the Centre offers a way for Poland to share its experiences with developing third-world countries. The program is designed to provide educated urban planners with an opportunity to apply their skills in the public and private sectors. The program combines policy analysis with applied methods and contemporary practices.
The lectures, workshops, and seminars provide planners with access to the most up-to-date knowledge and trends in urban and regional planning and methods for policy analysis and creating alternative projects, as well as planning the process for turning projects into reality. The fundamental basis of the program is the creation of an international forum to exchange ideas, concepts, and experience in specially-created groups. At the same time, the participants carry our their own individual plans and analyses for cities and small towns according to their interests, under the supervision of experienced planners. The program combines professional education with experience and actual involvement. The program has been in operation since 1966, and in the course of 31 years 553 urban and regional planners from 49 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin Africa, and Europe have graduate therefrom.

The main subjects offered at the Centre are:
city management in conditions of economic transformation
renewal of urban productivity
environmental management and planning
theory and practice of urban development
planning and development for coastal areas and coastal cities
integrated approaches to zoning
management of the real estate market
the role of local authorities in urban planning

Admittance procedures:
The Centre's printed application form must be completed and returned by Sept. 20. In addition, following documents are required: diplomas and/or transcripts showing studies completed; a letter of recommendation from one's workplace or place of studies; a certificate attesting to fluency in written and spoken English; a health certificate; and two photos.
The program is open the to urban and regional planners, architects and engineers with a minimum of two-years experience in their professions.

Costs:
The tuition of 6,000 USD includes the costs of accommodation for six-months. In accordance with the information contained in the application form, tuition must be paid by the end of November. Limited stipends offered by the Centre may be applied for. Travel costs are included in the tuition.

Each application is individually reviewed. Remedial magisterial programs commence on Oct. 1. Doctoral studies may be commenced at any time during the academic year.
Tuition for both programs is 5,000 USD/yr. Plus a one-time registration fee of 200 USD.

Conditions of Admission:
Candidates applying for remedial magisterial program must supply the following information:
- a request for admission
- a copy of the applicant's bachelor degree diploma (B. Sc.), notarized by the Polish embassy or consulate in the country of origin.
- A certificate of good health.
Candidates applying for doctoral studies must supply the following information:
- a request for admission, together with a cv resume
- a copy of the applicants diploma of higher education, notarized by the Polish embassy or consulate in the country of origin
- two letters of recommendation from either employers or university mentors describing the applicant's scientific achievements, knowledge, aptitude, and predisposition for research.
- A certificate of good health.

In addition to the above, the Wroclaw Technical University offers approximately 180 courses in English, German, French, or Spanish within the context of existing European Union programs. These courses may be attended on a semester or yearly basis.
