The Academy of Economics in Poznan (AEP) offers foreigners wishing to study thereat in English the opportunity to participate in one- or two semester programs, either as full - time students or in an individually- designed program, in the following areas of specialisation:

European studies (Cost: 1,250 USD/semester)

Full-time programs of day time studies will be offered only in the event that a group of 25 students can be formed.

The program of European Studies includes the following topics:
The evolution of the Polish region
The evolution of the Polish capital market and banking
Marketing strategies - the Polish capital market and banking
Provision of services - European perspectives
Integration of Poland and other Visegrad countries with the EU
The Polish road to the European Monetary Union
Economic transformation in Central and Eastern Europe - Theory and Practice

In addition, its envisioned that programs in European Studies will also be offered in French commencing in 1998/1999.

The Science of Commodities program examines the creation, conservation, quality control and assessment, and storage and delivery of commodities. It is designed for persons who have completed at least two years of higher education studies and basic knowledge of market economics and consumer economics. It includes the following topics:

First Semester:
Principles in quality management
Food commodity science
Microbiological quality of food products
Human nutrition
Instrumental analysis

Second Semester:
Principles in marketing
Food commodity science (continued)
Industrial commodity science
Quality and environmental pollution
Food labeling (bar, codes, etc.)

Interested persons may also participate in the following lectures and seminars:
Technological revolution and quality
Application of computers in business
Ecological treatment of wastes
Logistic

In addition to the above, the AEP also organizes, in conjunction with the University of Massachusetts in Amherst (USA) an annual summer course entitled "The Polish - American Summer School in Economics". This program, which includes lectures and exercise classes in the computer laboratory, is conducted exclusively in English. The cost of participation for the entire program is 1,400 USD.

In addition, the Centre for Polish-French Management Studies conducts a program of post-graduate studies which concludes with receipt of the French CAAE diploma. Classes in this program are conducted in French jointly by Polish and European Union specialists, including the following lectures:

Second Semester
Management accounting
Marketing
Enterprise strategies

Tuition for the above program is 700 USD for the first semester, and 300 USD for the second semester.

In addition to the above programs, individual programs of doctoral studies may be designed within any Faculty of the AEP in English, French, German, or Russian. Cost of individual programs of doctoral studies is 4,000 USD/yr.

The Academy of Economics in Cracow (AEC) offers an interdepartmental, one-semester course in English entitled "Poland - Economy in Transition".

This program is designed for students from the countries of the European Union as well as from the United States who would like to deepen their knowledge of the economic and social changes taking place in Poland. More complete information will be sent to persons interested upon request. The course is already in its second offering, and it will be offered again in the second semester of the upcoming (1998/1999) academic year.

Recruitment and admissions procedures for the course take two forms:
a) Individual registration together with tuition payment of 1,500 USD/semester;
b) Exchanges with foreign faculties and institutes. Such exchanges are based on the principle of equal treatment for Polish and foreign students, whereby a foreign student can enroll in the Cracow program without cost and the Academy of Economics in Cracow can delegate a Polish student to study abroad on the same terms and conditions.

The also offers its regular program of studies in marketing and management within the Faculty of Management in English. This offering is dependent upon obtaining sufficient candidates (minimum of 20 persons). Tuition for this regular course of studies is 3,000 USD/yr.

In addition, all programs offered by the Academy are open to foreigners who are able to complete the same in Polish. Tuition for foreigners studying in Polish has been established db the Rector of the AEC at 3,000 USD/yr.

The Academy of Economics in Wroclaw (AEW) offers foreigners the opportunity of engaging in the following programs of studies in foreign languages:

A specially-designed program of magisterial studies in English within its Faculty of Management and Computer Science. This program lasts for two years and conducted exclusively in English within the context of an "international option". The program is based on the Executive Master of Business Administration concept. Candidates must already possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and two-years professional work experience. Studies commence in Oct. of each year and last for four semesters. The courses take place on weekends.

In addition to the above, remedial magisterial study programs may be designed in English (cost: 3,000 USD/yr.) or doctoral study programs (preferably in English but also possible in French and German) under the supervision of an individual promoter (cost: 4,000 USD/yr.). Both the aforementioned programs include a one-time registration fee of 500 USD. Candidates for doctoral studies must have the equivalent of a Polish magister diploma.

MAGISTERIAL STUDIES

Generally lectures in magisterial programs at the Central School of Commerce (CSC) are conducted in Polish, nevertheless some parts of some programs may be taken in English or German. In particular, the following special packages have been designed:

A one-semester program entitled "CEMS Specializaition Courses" which consist of the following course conducted in English by CSC Professors:

The Institute of Economic and Social Sciences offers lectures in German in macro - micro economics and business studies. These lectures are offered by both CSC Professors in German and specialist from German universities.

Both the above programs are CSC diploma programs and are intended for students who already have acquired basic knowledge in the given subjects. Students who enroll individually must pay tuition of 2250 USD per semester. Students who enroll on basis of bilateral agreements, under international programs such as TEMPUS, SOCRATES, or CEEPUS, or under the auspices of the Polish Ministry of Education are exempt from tuition.

POST-GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMS

A program in European economic management known as the "Master de Management Economique European", conducted in conjunction with the HEC (Haute Ecole de Commerce) in Paris. Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Master Executive HEC diploma. The program last three semesters and encompasses 14 lecture modules in French and a series of seminars. Students take part in a 16 week internship in a French or Polish company at the end of their studies. Lectures are conducted by staff from the HEC, CSC, and partner institutions.

A program in Banking and Financial Markets (Diploma Banques et Marches Financiers), conducted in conjunction with the Universite Paris Dauphine. This program consists of 300 hours of specialised lectures offered in the CSC in French by Professors of the Universite Dauphine and its partner institutions, a series of seminars, and an internship either in France or Poland. The combined program of studies lasts 14 months, and graduates receive a post-graduate studies diploma from the Universite Paris Dauphine as well as the CSC. The program is designed for young economists and managers who wish to acquire a high level of specialized education in Banking and Finance.

MBA STUDIES

One such program is carried out in English in conjunction with the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools (CCMS). Graduates of this program receive diploma from either the University of Calgary or the Universite du Quebec a Montreal. This program is aimed at professionals with some business experience, i.e., businesspersons, directors, managers, etc. Courses take place in intensive sessions on Friday and Saturdays. The program lasts for a year-and-a-half, and charges tuition for both Polish and foreign participants. Additional Information may be obtained through the main office of

The second program is known as the Warsaw Executive MBA. This program is carried out in the area of management in conjunction with the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management (USA). It is a two-year program, comprised of a year-and-a-half of courses, followed by a six-month consulting project. The program is in accordance with the standards see forth by the American Association of Higher Schools of Business. Lectures take place on Saturdays and Sundays in two languages, Polish and English, so that both Poles and foreigners can take the program. Graduates receive an MBA diploma from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management and an International Diploma of Special Studies granted by the School of Commerce.
